Hazelbrae is a lovingly refurbished Victorian home in the village of Cusop, just a short walk from the heart of Hay-on-Wye. 

You will stay in a two-storey, semi-detached cottage that sleeps up to 6 guests comfortably and is designed to feel like a true home-from-home. With three cosy bedrooms, a log burner, enclosed patio, and a well-equipped kitchen, it’s a perfect self-catering escape for families or friends. 

Enjoy easy access to scenic walks, riverside trails, and the unique charm of Hay-on-Wye—famous for its bookshops, markets, and laid-back countryside atmosphere.

Living Room

  • Living room with a Smart TV
  • Safe and easy to use wood-burning stove (we provide locally sourced logs).
  • Comfy seating – two sofa beds (one convertible).

Kitchen

  • Fully equipped oak kitchen with a range cooker, microwave, fridge freezer, dishwasher, kettle, French press, and all the utensils, pans, and glassware you need for cooking and dining.
  • We also provide essentials like: tea, coffee, milk, salt and pepper. 
  • The kitchen looks out onto the patio and has plenty of counter space—ideal for group meals or baking.

Dining Room

  • Dining room with a large oak table with seating for 6 and a high chair.
  • Collection of board games for cozy nights in.

Bespoke Workspace

  • Dedicated workspace in one of the main bedrooms – situated in the quietest corner of the house.

  • Each has a wardrobe and extra storage under the bed.

  • Twin bedroom with two, smaller single beds and views over the patio and garden—ideal for kids or friends sharing.

  • Family bathroom upstairs with toilet and a full-size bathtub—perfect for soaking tired legs after a day of walking or kayaking.
  • Downstairs bathroom with shower and toilet.
  • Bathrooms are equipped with essential bathing products.

Outdoor Space

  • Fenced patio with outdoor dining for 6, a swingball set, and a hose for muddy boots or dogs.
  • On-site parking for one car (between the cottage and a wall) plus free street parking directly in front of the house or down the street.
  • Upper garden area, accessed via wooden stairs, offers elevated views and is great for bird watching, reading, or a quiet morning coffee.

Pet-Friendly Amenities

  • We welcome 1–2 well-behaved dogs (contact us if you’re bringing more).
  • The patio and garden are fenced, but may not be fully secure for unsupervised dogs.
  • We provide dog bowls, poo bags and pet first aid kit.

Accessibility

  • Guest have access to the entire house.
  • The cottage has stairs inside and steps leading to the top garden, so elderly guests or anyone with limited mobility may need a bit of assistance.
  • For easier access, there’s a downstairs bathroom with a walk-in shower, and a convertible sofa bed in the living room.
